Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND)

At Our Lady of Muswell, our SEND policy directly reflects the whole school mission statement.

One Community - our aim is to ensure all children, parents, carers, and staff participate and are valued as full members of our school community.

Love of Learning - developing their potential to achieve their very best.

Making time for God - taking time to reflect on the gifts that God has given each and every one of us and develop them to their fullest.

We aim to have early recognition of learning, emotional and physical difficulties, through baseline assessments and screening.

Next are our targeted support and interventions, which are monitored to check progress. Our aim is to match the intervention/support to the child’s needs. Staff are trained to provide different interventions across the school and this training and good practice is something that is ongoing throughout the year.

We work cooperatively with outside agencies to aim to provide the most qualified support for the children e.g. Occupational therapist, speech, and language therapist, educational psychologist.

We aim to keep all parents involved in, and informed of, their child’s progress. SEND support plan review meetings are held in conjunction with parent-teacher consultations.

Please look at the SEND information report Oct 2019 which outlines more of what the school offers in regards to SEND.

This report has been updated with an annex to reflect the wider reopening of school in June 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
