International Night

Here are some photos of our wonderful International Night celebrations.

Learning characters competition winners!

Congratulations to Niamh (Y5C), Lucas (Y3M) and Zianne (Y5C) who were the winners of our competition to create learning characters for the school. Each classroom now has a Sharing Sharpie, Clarifying Callum and an Understanding Brian!

Science Dome

We were really excited to receive a visit from the Science Dome team in school this week. They taught the year 3, 4 and 5 children all about the wonders of our solar system and beyond – through their unique and fully digital mobile planetarium.

This was an exciting opportunity for the children to explore space through this unique experience of the wonders of the universe in 3 dimensional visuals.

Jermaine Jenas visits OLM!

This morning at assembly the children were very excited to welcome Jermaine Jenas to school. He spoke about his footballing career and told the children how being on time for training, always trying his best and doing more than the expected helped him to achieve his dream. Through his work with the Aquinas Foundation Jermaine launched our “Get to school on time” campaign which will see children and classes who are on time everyday rewarded - the class with the best punctuality and the top three children with the best punctuality will receive very special prizes in July.

Christmas Tree Appeal

Today we welcomed Sergeant Simon Chappell and PC Charlotte Bell to our school as part of The Christmas Tree Appeal, a charity supported by OLM this Christmas. This appeal was organised by the Haringey Metropolitan Police in support of women and children who are resident in local women's refuges. Many thanks to those of you who supported the appeal and sent in wonderful donations. At assembly this morning the children enjoyed hearing from the police about how they are helping others less fortunate this Christmas as well as having the opportunity to ask questions and find out about life in the Metropolitan Police! A special thank you to Mrs Thomas (Y2 parent) for organising the appeal.

Advent Liturgy.

Year 3 children lead the school in an Advent Liturgy this week. Along with Fr Mark, they reminded our school community about the importance of Advent and what our Advent wreath means.

Hari Bear visits!

Today we welcomed a very special visitor to OLM - Hari Bear.

Hari Bear has been travelling to primary schools across Haringey for the past 3 weeks and OLM was the final stop on his journey. Children from Tetherdown Primary School walked from their school to OLM and handed Hari Bear over to our children. Hari Bear has been promoting walking to school and reminding children about the benefits of walking and cycling to school. We brought our favourite teddy bears to school today so that Hari had some friends while visiting OLM!

Ten Ten Theatre

We were very pleased to welcome back Ten Ten Theatre to our school on Wednesday 19th October. The day began with an assembly for children and parents which explored themes within the Year of Mercy. Throughout the day children attended short plays which further explored these themes and provided opportunities for children to think about showing mercy each other.

GOLD, GOLD, GOLD!

We are delighted to announce that Our Lady of Muswell have been accredited Gold from TFL STARS, a nationally, and internationally, recognised accreditation scheme which offers major benefits for London’s schools. STARS encourages all schools to join as part of a London-wide effort to increase the levels of active and sustainable travel, and in turn make a big difference to the wellbeing and health of children, their families and school staff. We are looking forward to attending an awards ceremony in October to collect our prize!

Code Club on the BBC!

Children from Code Club took part in filming with the BBC for a programme discovering how technology is being used in school classrooms. Well done to Duncan Wilson, Mr Maloney and all the children involved.  Skip forward to 18:20 to see us feature!

Artwork

Make sure to have a look at the artwork on our main staircase! Mr Mosedale and his friends at "Forest and Jones" have been working very hard creating the design and printing it onto magnetic wallpaper. All the children are working on designing individual butterflies which will fill the walls over the next week. A very special thanks to Mr Mosedale and everyone at Forest and Jones for all their hard work and effort. We cannot believe how amazing it looks!

A big well done to all the children who represented the school at the hockey competition.
