World Book Day 2021
Our World Book Day celebrations will be a little different this year but hopefully just as fun and as always, with an emphasis on encouraging reading for pleasure throughout the year.
Like last year, we will be holding a sponsored read from Thursday 25th February to Thursday 18th March. Please do try to support this if you can – all monies raised will bring valuable new books to every class in school. Click here for the sponsorship form.
Next week, each class will be invited to an exciting virtual visit with an author via zoom. The details for this will be available on Google Classroom and Tapestry.
On World Book Day we are inviting your child to dress as a book character whether they are remote learning or coming into school. If your child is coming into school please ensure that their costume allows them to take part in their PE lesson that day!
We are also inviting your child to take part in our World Book Day competition. Children can:
- submit a photograph of your child reading in a cosy location/position (think blankets, beanbags, dens!)
- draw their favourite book character (nursery and reception)
- write a postcard from your favourite book character (Years One and Two)
- write a lock down diary entry in the role of your favourite book character (Years Three – Six, 150 word limit)
These entries should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please put WBD entry and include your child’s name and class in the e-mail title. We are asking that a voluntary contribution of £1 is made per child, when entering the competition. All monies raised will go towards replenishing books in class libraries. To make a voluntary contribution please click on the FOLM WDB patchwork site https://patchworkit.com/37123/olmworldbookday.
